when i was little my family used to make fun of me, because i would pick a favorite movie and it would stay my favorite movie for a couple of years. During that time I would watch this said movie over and over and over pretty much every day. After so long you'd think I'd get tired of it, but I never grew tired of these movies...and they are still on my list as you can see it's not very long, because I don't feel like boring you...but these are my favorites...well.....a few of them at least. trust me you don't have enough time for me to name them all.
I lay every burden down at the foot of the cross... Now I can trade these ashes in for beauty and wear forgiveness like a crown.

Day 6: Something that makes you happy
I make happy lists so this is kinda easy
Sunsets:
the fact is, I just love getting pictures of them. It doesn't matter if the quality is terrible. They are all still beautiful. Some of my friends know this about me, and like to send me pictures of sunsets which is absolutely amazing (:
Texts (:
Nice text messages from people make me happy so easily. It's so easy to make my day all you have to do is say "Good morning how are you?"
Funfetti Cake:
I mean....duh it's the best cake in the world
Orange Roses:
These are my favorite roses. They are just so beautiful. and they make me smile
Friends:
OF COURSE friends make me happy and making new friends too
i could keep going, but I will just stop here...because this could get too long really quick..lol

Day 5: My Siblings
Well I only have one. His name is Taylor Smith and he is everything that i'm not. He doesn't know it, but he's absolutely amazing. And he's such an inspiration to me. He is always so full of joy and it's so contagious. You just can't help but smile when he's around. Tons of kids look up to him, and he is so great with kids. He always takes the time to talk to them and play with them. He teaches kids how to play golf and he shares his passion with them. Once he shares just a piece of that passion with you, you'll be hooked on golf for life..just like me. :) He makes mistakes, but he learns from them. He is my best friend. I have the luxury of being really close to my brother, I know most siblings aren't close until one moves out or until they get married, but Taylor and I have been close pretty much our whole lives. I wouldn't trade a memory I have with him for anything. I miss him and I'm so proud of him.
Taylor: Keep on inspiring me as well as others.

Day 4: My parents
I have the most amazing parents in the world. I am very blessed to have them. We don't get to pick our parents, but even if I had the chance I probably would have picked mine. My dad is a strong spiritual leader and He's a loving person and he's kind and caring. My mom is so stinking cute! She is so sweet and sarcastic, and she's beautiful inside and out. I hope I can be like her someday. :)

Day 3 Your first Love
Love is a strong word. It's used out so rapidly these days that I think we forget that love is just as strong of a word as hate. I've never been in love, but my first love is Jesus Christ. He shed his own blood for my sinful heart. He paid the ultimate price so that I may live in heaven with him forever. He did the same for you as well. :)

Day 2
Introduce and Explain your blog title
Well...When I first made this blog it was for my mission trip to Montana. So I was on a mission to do whatever it was the God wanted me to do in Montana. And then I used it in California as well. And the title changed. Now it is the exact same except for that I'm at Auburn now. I am still on a mission, it's just that the place of my mission has changed. I'm on a mission at Auburn! :)

Jesus paid a high price
Auburn has one of the best Christian subcultures in the country. So, yes I am going to grow in my faith more than I have in a long time. At church on Sunday the college minister was talking and he said something that stung like a bazillion bee stings all at once. It was like a slap in the face. He said, "We spend too much time on facebook when there are people all around us that are going to hell. Jesus didn't die on the cross for you to have a great Christian subculture here at Auburn. He died for the lost souls. These people are going to hell and it doesn't even concern you." It broke my heart to a billion pieces when I realized that I was all about mission work, and serving the Lord… but I turned a blind eye to my surrounding area. There are roughly 9,000 Christians at Auburn. That's an incredible number, but there are 20,000 students that aren't saved. That should break our hearts. Hell is a place I wouldn't wish on my worst of enemies. It is a dark, fiery pit of anger and hatred. It is a terrible way to spend an eternity separated from the one that loves you more than anything in the world. God loves us more than anything in the entire world, but you know what? God loves sinners and the lost more than anything in the world too. So, we should be telling them that. We have something to fight for. Our faith is something worth fighting for. We have got to stop being afraid of the gospel. It is the power of the Lord and the salvation to all who believe! (Romans 1:16) People will believe, but how can they believe what they've never heard or been told. How can it not break your heart that there are PEOPLE walking around with no hope, because they don't know any better? They don't know about God's amazing love for us, and the joy that he gives to us. It breaks God's heart that there are people that are going to spend an eternity in hell AND it breaks his heart that we won't talk about it and that we shy away from telling them about our faith. If we have faith in God, then what are we so afraid of!? Jesus paid MUCH too high of a price for us to decide who is capable of believing in him. That is all for now. Just think about all of those unreached people and believe that God can and will save them. It's a winning battle; we already know the ending of the story. We know that He's going to win, so that should be motivation!
God Bless!

FRESHMAN
So far this week I have labeled myself as a FRESHMAN about 20 times. I get so turned around on this campus! It's nuts! Sunday I went to First Baptist Opelika. That place is absolutely amazing. You can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit there. As I looked around before it started I must have seen over a thousand college students in the college student service. It was amazing to see so many people my age or a little bit older going about 15 minutes away from campus to worship. It was amazing. I'm so excited to partner with them during my college life experience. I know that they will do great things in the name of Christ. My roommate Lauren Swindle is the most fantabulous roommate in all of Auburn University. She's the bomb.com (yes I did just say that). I'm so excited to see what God does in our lives while we are here at Auburn serving Him. I hope that we grow to be doers of the word and Godly women of faith. I am so fired up for this new experience and I hope that you will partner with me and pray for my roommate and I as we stand firm in the faith and follow the Lord to the exact place he wants us. Right now He wants us to be at Auburn...WAR EAGLE!!! Praise the Lord
Thank you so much for the prayers they are greatly appreciated!

I'm about to get on the plane. While I am excited to go home and I know that is time for me to go, I am sad to leave, because I know is working in Sacramento. Please continue to pray for Sacramento. Hana will be here for another week, so please pray for her ministry for the last week and that she won't get homesick working by herself. Thank you for all of the prayers and letters this summer. Y'all are the best! See you soon!

Maybe I'm here to love
Maybe I’m here to love.
That is what I have learned this week. I wasn’t needed to run a VBS or teach. This week I just loved on the kids and played recreation games with them. I listened to all of their stories that they wanted to tell. It was this week that I truly grasped the reason why I’m in California. I knew I was supposed to serve God and in that I would end up serving others, but I never thought that I was sent to love. I thought that was just a given. Of course I was going to be sharing Go’s love with others, but I didn’t know that would be my main job f the summer. God opened up my heart and showed me how to love others like Jesus loves them. Tomorrow I am getting on a plane and flying to Georgia, and for 5 days that will be my mission field. On Saturday I will drive to Auburn and for the rest of the year my mission field is going to be Auburn University. I have to take what I have learned this summer with me. This summer I learned that sometimes a smile is enough. I learned that even if people don’t understand what you’re saying, they understand a smile and it puts them at ease. I’ve learned that all service starts with being humble and not too good to do something as gross as take out the trash. I’ve learned that sometimes, missions is just loving people. It’s not always going to be going door to door sharing the gospel sometimes it starts with friendship and love. Christ paid too high of a price for me to pick and choose who is capable of believing his mighty truth. Please continue to pray for me as I move to my new mission field and my partners as they settle in to their new mission fields. Home is a mission field just as Sacramento is a mission field. Soon I will be on a mission at Auburn University...WAR EAGLE!

Old "Hangtown" and Camp Alta
it's been a while, but i havent had computer access in my defense.
This past week I was blessed while serving at Placer Heights Baptist Church. I helped with the pre-school and kindergarten classes. The kids were so open to everything this week. 35 children attended from preschool-8th grade. Out of those kids at least 4 were saved by the grace of God. The heavens are rejoicing with every new believer this summer and I thank you for the prayers for this week. I do ask that y’all continue to pray for the children that are new believers; they need prayer just as much as a non-believer. I also ask that y’all continue to pray for everyone that aren’t believers yet, the seed has been planted, so just pray that it will grow into something and that they will one day be ready to follow Christ. California is a different place out here and I miss everyone at home. For those of y’all who are counting, I have 13 more days out here, 17 days until I leave for Auburn, 18 days until rush starts, and 29 days before classes start. I am working at Camp Alta as a camp counselor. I am extremely excited about this week. So far this week is going great. Yesterday I was in charge of recreation and I made up 3 different games. Today I helped lead a huge adventure race. I helped brainstorm each game. It was awesome. Please continue to pray for our unity as a group and for the children and even adults that we have come into contact with at Camp Alta. May there be more rejoicing in the heavens over the repentance of many sinners across the world today and every day until the Savior returns and takes us home with Him. I pray that everyone hears the gospel and it doesn’t fall void.

I'm back..
I haven't written on my blog in a while, because we've been busy! VBS was very rewarding last week. We had 2 interested in becoming a Christian, but they aren't quite ready yet. It is nice to know that the seed has been planted though. My parents came out to California this week. I only saw them on Thursday for dinner. It was nice to see them. One of the main things I am learning this summer is that sometimes being a missionary doesn't mean preaching the gospel all of the time. Sometimes it means getting on your knees and serving the Lord on the "bottom of the totum pole". One week I cleaned showers with my group, while it was nasty it was very rewarding. We served dinner to campers and ate last one week, and while we ate we had to keep taking out the trash, but that week was my favorite week. God blessed my group that week, because we were willing to be servants for him. The weight of the goslel is still huge and I know that I need to be sharing it and not shy away from it, but sometimes sharing a little love can plant a seed. California is an amazing place to be serving the Lord for the summer.
Romans 10:14-15
Please pray for me as well as my group as we continue serving the Lord in California.
in Him,
Maggie

Use my hands and use my feet
My parents are coming to visit next week. I'm super excited that they will get to see the beauty that is surrounding me. We have had much fun teaching VBS for the past few weeks. We got to go to Old Sacramento and shop which was awesome. The capital building has a beautiful rose garden and the capital building is beautiful inside.

week 2
Week One was amazing! I met all of the other 38 missionaries that are serving in Californai for the summer. We all went to Orientation together and got really close. Some of them I miss already.
Week 2 was a difficult week. We only had one kid in our class for the first two days, and we had three kids on Wednesday. Thursday adn Friday we had two kids.
For now we (we meaning my group: Kelsey Davis, Emily White, Hana Mitchell and I) are with my supervisor in Sacramento. His wife Lori is absolutely amazing. They are both sarcastic which is fun. Jeff and Lori Coburn are the best. If you would like to send mail this summer my address is:
Maggie Smith

Prayer is needed for this summer. California is a dark place!! : )
